Our 1998 Subaru Imprezza Headlight experienced something pretty ordinary; The low beam went out, then the high beam. After replacing the lightbulb everything went away. The socket has melted. I bought it hoping to replace it myself but the previous repair looked pretty shallow and I have no idea about electronics. So I took the part to a mechanic who said it was perfect and quickly repaired my headlamp with a Dorman 8470 headlamp socket which was a lot cheaper than I thought a full service shop would cost under $50. I am happy.
