Review on 🩰 Womens Performa by Bloch by Joe Griggs

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great shoe, read the size/fit tips!

I really like these shoes. The lack of a round elastic channel makes them a little more comfortable but they feel more traditional than shoes with very elastic panels etc. They look polished and beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the ankle elastic being pre-stitched BUT it didn't hurt me and I don't feel the need to rip through a heavy machine seam to easily move the elastic. Good. so suitable. I wear 7 women's running shoes. Since gaining some weight I've been uncomfortable with the high arch in many shoes and often go down to a size 8 or even 8.5 to relieve pressure on the instep even though a size 8 is too big. I've always found ballet flats around the equivalent of a 7 to constrain my toes a bit. I have a pointed Greek toe (Morton's Toe) and the ball of the foot is the widest part of my foot. So, wide Greek feet. I often have the feeling that I am either only on the big toe or on the other toes only on the relève. I went down to size 6 instead of 5 because my toes need a lot of room to work! The increase in size may have also saved me the hassle of having a pre-sewn elastic given my thick legs. The elastic is a little tighter than I would have sewn it myself. The "canvas" is stretched perpendicularly to the fabric lines, i.e. diagonally across the back of the foot. I am attaching a picture of the fabric for clarity. This material has some stretch in all directions, but it's not stretchy spandex or anything like that at all. They still feel mostly stiff, but they're softer and thinner than many canvas shoes I've had, so I expect them to be a bit less durable. The diagonal stretch of the fabric is perfect for my fingers to move freely. The creases on this thinner fabric don't get in the way at all. The leather pad on the ball of the foot feels a little further back than on my Sanshas and Capezios, but that may be due to my size. However, it's in a great location. I really like these shoes and think they are a nice transition from really hard canvas without feeling or looking like a hybrid shoe. The ribbing around the top is more comfortable than coarse ribbing as it is less distinct from other styles. If you want a more modern shoe without the modern look (or if your teacher hates hybrid shoes!) this could be a good buy for you. I find them mostly flattering, although the pre-sewn elastic is a flaw in the look and feel. It would have been 5 stars if the elastic wasn't pre-sewn or even had an extra inch to let it out and sew it on longer.
