Retracts easily and locks well. I didn't use the end with the magnetic handle because I mostly measure wood. I noticed that it retracts slower than my others, which annoyed me a bit at first, but then I realized that it's actually safer. I've been cut by fast-moving tape before, and my kids have been hit by it. It takes a second longer, but don't worry, so I like it.
