I just bought my 3rd FRX1 as a gift for my son when they went back under $20 at Revain. Sure, you could get a transistor radio with slightly better FM or AM reception. But with the combination of NOAA weather stations, a removable battery (in case it should ever fail), an LED flashlight and a handle, with a device that also charges via USB, well, it's just great electronics just in case that the power goes out, I have to wait. I also wanted to point out that the FRX1's plastic body feels pretty solid. Of course. If you drop it on concrete it may break. But other than that, it feels pretty solid. I would trust it to take more abuse than the Kaito KA200 AM/FM radio.
