Review on 🌲 Woods Clamp Lamp with 10 Inch Reflector and Bulb Guard - 300W Bulb, 6ft Cord by William Rothstein

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works but needs something to hang up!

Received this 'brooding' lamp for use with TheraBulb NIR-A NIR silicone coated protection lamp - small form, 150w. . At first I gave up on the idea of buying a brand new lamp for this (I already have a clamp lamp that looked similar to this one), but after reading the instructions (and some scary reviews about exploding bulbs) I realized that my clamp lamp didn't was good. It's rated for over 60W of power and definitely not for heat. I'm REALLY glad I decided to spend the extra $12 on this bulb because the bulb definitely puts out a lot of heat and this bulb handles that safely. This lamp doesn't have an on/off switch, but how much does that bother you? probably depends on your setup and how paranoid you are about security. The lack of a switch doesn't matter as long as you leave it plugged into an outlet with a light switch. Anyway, I wasn't planning on leaving that lamp on all the time, so I don't mind. The instructions for my lightbulb specifically state never to leave the lightbulb it is used with unattended, even when it is "off" (probably a safety issue with all heat bulbs). The cable is short but beautiful and durable. It didn't light up once when I plugged it in or unplugged it (my other clip light sparks every time!). Make sure you're using it with a surge protector outlet (I think most of them have surge protectors). I find this lamp easy to handle and maneuver even when hot. I've never used it for hours (may vary depending on bulb and usage time). I did notice that the ceramic nest gets very hot, but the metal sides and cage guard never burned me touching them, even after 30 minutes (I wonder if they don't get that hot). The cage guard isn't as annoying as I thought it would be either. These wires actually protect the lightbulb from shattering if it falls to the ground. I find the clip completely useless, so I deducted a star (if your lamp doesn't have one, I'd say tablecloth). The clip is so strong I can barely open it, and even when I've successfully attached it to something it takes so much adjustment and fiddling that I just found it more convenient to hang this lamp from a metal hook at the top (I have it hanging on a lamp similar to LEPOWER metal floor lamp, heavy metal floor lamp with adjustable head, reading lamp for living room, bedroom, study and office). Luckily the clip is detachable and this lamp already has a nice metal ring so you can hang it up. By the way, you have to use a metal chain or hook to hang it (otherwise you risk security problems, especially if you use it for thinking). ETA (or TL/DR): I use this light therapy lamp and recently purchased this heavy duty mic stand to hang from: Pyle Heavy Duty Mic Stand - Height adjustable from 51.2" to 78.75" with 29" retractable boom, 5 Foot ' and stable tripod base - T-bar coupling adjustment point PMKS56 . This setup is the best I've ever found! It works really well - MUCH better than those useless clips or any hang up when I want to use it! It looks like a real lamp and is very versatile as it can be adjusted. There are cheaper $20 mic stands you could probably try, but I haven't tried any of them.
