Review on TERA PUMP TRFA01-XL Racing Fuel Transfer Pump with Multiple Gas Can Fittings, Racing Fuel Cell Jugs Adapter, Advanced Auto-Stop, and Flexible In/Out Take Hose - High Flow Rate of 2.4GPM by Ernest Duckett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Saves having to lift/hold a 5 gallon gas jug for 4 minutes but still spills and has limitations

I got this to work using my standard gas bottles and my racing jugs. This is a great idea, but there are some functional issues. Benefits: - Eliminates the hassle of lifting and holding a heavy 5 gallon gas cylinder while it slowly fills over 5 minutes. This pump has a built-in bleed line for high flow rates. Few gas canisters have vents and I had to use large race car style funnels to avoid splashing down the sides of the car while waiting for the canister to empty. - Sufficient fuel flows out. It can drain 4.5 gallons from a 5 gallon jug in 2-3 minutes. - Has an automatic shutdown. CONS: - There is a start button on the control head which can be touched at a glance and lowers the flexible line into the gas. it may accidentally spill fuel BEFORE you are ready. I stopped it 1 second before gas splattered all over my car in the garage! DO NOT use this in a garage. No matter how tightly I screwed the plastic adapter onto my plastic gas bottle, it slowly ran down the side of the bottle. DO NOT use in a garage - Some gas will escape when you unscrew the flexible hose and pull it out of the bottle. Again, do not use in a garage - the clip that holds the filler nozzle in the car's gas filler neck has a stranglehold on your filler tube, making it difficult to detach from the car. On our 2014 BMW 335i, I had to use 2 screwdrivers to pry it off the gas tank tube. I have only used standard plastic gas tanks so far but have found that this cannot completely drain the gas tank leaving about 1 liter. up to 1/2 gallon in a can. So I had to pull out the race funnel to drain the last 1/2 gallon of gas from the tank. - The auto stop function is too sensitive as I couldn't fill the gas tank in the last 1 gallon. - 2 gallons - For the price, it could do better.

  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
