UV9R is a newer UV82 style radio. Nice aesthetics, nice feel, nice keyboard, same display as others. I have a lot of accessories for UV82/UV5R radios but none of them work with the UV9R and require all new accessories but this kit I bought has most of the accessories I would use. Of course I have nothing to spare in case the supplied accessories failed. One big difference is that due to the radio's "waterproof" nature, there is a screw-on plastic plug on the side of the connector panel. To program the radio you need to remove this bezel with a screwdriver and then screw the programming cable in place with a small screw. Programmed with CHIRP without problems. I don't get the claimed 8 watts @ 2M on the wattmeter. There is nothing surprising here. The supplied programming cable was defective upon receipt (indexing tab was broken). I contacted Mirkit and they quickly provided me with a replacement cable, so I salute Mirkit for their great and fast customer service!
