I admit I was a little hesitant. I have NEVER spent $1,000 on a spotting scope after I have continued to spend thousands on scopes for my rifles, but I really needed a spotting scope. I figured I had to stay under $300 and just do the best I could. Actually, I discovered SVBONY on Youtube. I've done my research. I originally wanted to buy the SV406 as it was an incredible deal given the stats and positive reviews I saw. A Youtube review did a distance comparison with a whirlpool and you could definitely see some blurring at the edges and color degradation at 406 compared to the whirlpool. No wonder considering it's a vortex. Then I discovered the ED version, 406P. Looks like it came out in November. There aren't many reviews, but given the reviews for the 406, I paid too much to get the 406P. So far, I am very satisfied. It feels solid, sturdy and easy to use. Driven up to 100 meters, everything is fine. Will have to increase the distance a bit to see how it performs and hopefully holds up. When it comes to gear, I tend to "spend more" to get credible names - Vortex, Leupold, etc. I've always preferred to buy an American product or a solid European one, but it was too expensive, to get ahead. high. I gave you a great early review of SVBONY, I hope you hold out in the long run, but for now I'm very happy.
