Review on πŸ”Œ Legrand-Pass & Seymour SA993BKCC10 Black Connector: 15-Amp, 125-Volt Straight Blade, Two Pole Three Wire by Ines Jones

skintight Requires patience. Good strain relief

I bought this connector to make an extension out of an old 16/3 cable. This is a good connector but will require some patience to cut the outer insulation, inner insulation and bare wire to length. Advantages: - Inexpensive. About $3 off the Revain Warehouse deal. If the core insulation is properly gripped in the strain relief channel, the strain relief channel will be at an angle such that considerable force is required to pry it out. The connectors are color coded: gold = hot; silver = neutral; Green = ground. Although no instructions are included, manufacturer instructions can be found here: www dot legrand dot us/-/media/brands/passandseymour/resources/installation-instructions/other/ps-grounding-plug -and-connector-install-instructions - 340824.ashx - Reliable Terminals. They hold the screws very tight. The hole in the connector is .381" in diameter, allowing it to accept the same or smaller outer wire insulation. Wires 14 gauge or less are no problem. 12 gauge may not fit in strain relief slots depending on insulation thickness. Cons: I would never pay full price for this connector ($10 or more at Revain): I can buy a brand new extension cord. for that.- It really fits everything. This is fine after final assembly, but requires patience to ensure all wires and insulation are cut to length and installed. Stranded wire, even if it is tightly twisted at first, will still be scattered everywhere when tightening the screw. I recommend tinning the wires if you have access to a soldering iron. This greatly speeds up the work and provides a cleaner and more reliable connection. They are all plastic and feel hollow and light. It doesn't have the plush feel of a rubber or molded rubber fork. Having used this plug and a 2-prong outlet with a Leviton 3W102-E 3-prong ground wire, I prefer the Leviton plug. They're both pretty much the same size, but the Leviton connector offers more room to install wires and has rings that compress and hold the outer insulation on the cable when the connector is screwed on.
