Review on NRG Innovations SRK-400CF Carbon Fiber Thin Quick Release by Melvin Belton

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poor workmanship to say the least

This thing was the biggest problem getting it lined up right for me. I have a regular Taxi Tacoma, so I wanted my handlebars to be closer to what they were before I bought an NRG wheel. I had a 2.0 quick release but it's too close. Now I don't know, maybe I installed 2.0 wrong or it was just a different screw pattern. Long story short, I had trouble realigning the wheel. I'd also like to point out that I'm pretty smart about these things. After finally getting the pose right, I went on my way and saw how I like it. Every little bump in the road makes the retaining ring wobble like crazy. Even when I try to stop him from shaking his hand, he still does. When I get home I take the wheel off and look at it to see why it's shaking. The screws holding the locking ring seem just as lousy as the hassle of threading them in. I don't intend to go to the trouble of removing a bike just to send it back and hope I don't get another one with the same defect. Not to mention I don't already have another quick release available. Of course, it would be nice to have one that couldn't match the cost of these things. Would have gotten a solid 5 stars and a good rating if it wasn't for the rattling. Forgot to mention that once installed the locking ring almost didn't want to move let alone lock up. I had to push harder than was really necessary before it finally settled down.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
