Our old kettle needs to be replaced as it is completely worn out, still works but looks awful. The color of this Ascot kettle immediately caught my eye as it looks very elegant, so I bought it. Package arrived in a beautiful beautiful box, like new. Inside the box are kettle, stand, lid lid and spare lid holder. I really like the look of this teapot. The look alone justifies the price. It's shiny but doesn't attract fingerprints. The weight is spot on, it feels like any other kettle of the same size. The cord length of the base seems a little short, but that's okay as it's safer just standing still in a corner of the kitchen. I like the filter with a fine internal mesh as it keeps limescale from getting into your drink. I recommend checking the bottom inside the kettle for limescale deposits from time to time and always cleaning it. This kettle seems to heat up faster than my old one, maybe because it's newer or more powerful. There is no discernible aftertaste when the water from this kettle is heated, but this also depends on what type of water you are using. Operating this kettle is very easy: plug in, press the small lever on the back, wait and you're done. The lid is also secure enough to prevent you from accidentally spilling hot water. Even if you accidentally flip it to the side, the cover will not come off. That's a plus for security. Overall I am impressed with how good this teapot looks. Heats water well and is easy to clean. If you are looking for a stylish kettle, this is a good option.
