Heat doesn't work.

This rating refers to the K&H fleece. I bought a K&H Extreme outdoor heating pad (9" x 12") but it didn't come with a case so I bought a K&H fleece case separately. When using a fleece-covered heating pad, the underside of the cover (non-fleece side) is warmer than the fleece side. Fleece keeps most of the heat out. I removed the lid and indeed the heating pad itself feels warmer. The fleece sleeve is a waste of money and I just threw it away.
