So I just got this for my Valentine V1 Gen 2 Radar Detector for use on my 2003 Chevy Silverado. I read that it works with gen 2 and doesn't work. But what can you use with the mount you have?!?! All I can say is that I have had no problems using the Valentine V1 mount that comes with this kit with my Gen 2 speed camera. It slipped right in and works as it should. I'm tired of my radar detector falling off my windshield because, at worst, suction cups will also pull out the power cord that's under the headliner. I don't know what happened the last time it was dropped, but it didn't turn on by cord. I can't find anything wrong but it doesn't work anymore?!?!?! Strange! So I also got myself a power supply for the mirror kit. Use a test light to find the power switch from the plug behind the mirror. It was the yellow wire. I assumed the black was crushed. Plugged into these 2 ports and the radar detectors turn on and off with the key as expected. So that works great too. The only downside is that I can't quote by hiding it under the mirror as close as I'd like. Gone are the days when he just fell in love with me. It's good. Something will change, I will post an update.
