I've seen a few comments about it not keeping things dry and was a little hesitant, but I have the basic instructions on how to attach zips on the back and holding down the flap worked well. We stayed in New Jersey and the night before we left we packed up and then it rained heavily that night and it rained in all directions. I noticed that everything inside is dry. Used with the recommended protection card on the roof, and as long as there was something in the trunk didn't even realize what it was (no slipping or sliding) when driving on country roads and highways. The only time this was an issue was when it was empty and not retightened (which is user error, not a product issue) but even with it and a bit of freeway driving (50mph for 20-30 minutes). great, just made a lot of noise. Installation was easy, even with a minivan. At first I used a ladder which worked but was difficult, I later found that it was much easier to climb onto the roof of my van. In the future I will probably buy several containers (not to protect against water, as they are completely dry), but to be able to load and empty them more easily.
