Review on 🚲 SONGMICS Quick Release Bike Repair Stand - Adjustable & Portable Maintenance Rack for Mountain Bikes, Bicycle Workstand by Phil Kowal

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Close enough for government work and a lot cheaper than the hammers they use.

I've had this stand for about half a year and have used it several times. Lubricating the tracks, flushing and adjusting the wheels is all that is required for routine maintenance. My impression so far is: not bad. The only thing I seriously doubt - and that's just a question at the moment as I haven't had a chance to test it - is it strong enough if you really need to crank something like a stuck crank. close. Other than that, I didn't encounter any of the issues that other reviewers have and everything works as it should. They may have tweaked something based on previous complaints, but for me the build was easy and uneventful. Once properly adjusted (key point), all of the clamps and sections are strong enough to hold my 25lb bike at various angles by either the top tube or the seatpost. I shook it a few times to check stability, then found out a few more positioning issues that cropped up along the way. The tool tray is okay, but don't expect it to offer a lot of space. I didn't need it for anything important yet, but it was good for convenience. There is a magnetic stripe in the center of the main compartment, so its magnetic properties are limited to that area. I suggest mounting it on the other side of the stand so it doesn't interfere with pedal rotation. It simply attaches to the stand, so if you don't remove it, it won't hurt. The front stabilizer bar works well after finding the best position for it. The elastic band is difficult to fasten at first, but loosens up after a while. The legs fold up like a lightweight stand, so the whole thing can be tucked away in just about any corner. To be honest, I'd just buy a Park Tool stand if they didn't start at three times the price of their cheapest model . For unprofessional housekeeping, I couldn't justify the hassle, at least not without trying a cheaper alternative. Sometimes it backfires and sometimes it works, so fingers crossed and we'll see. Will be updated if something goes wrong over time.
