Review on Zefal Wiiz 2016 Side Mount Bottle Cage by Alex Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best bottle cage I've ever used

I have a fairly compact bike frame so bigger bottles don't fit in or are hard to reach while riding. After installing these Zefal Side Mount Cages, I can easily carry bottles with me. Since they can be set for either right or left exit, I set them both up for right access. Most of the other side mounts I'm interested in are solid blocks. So if you have two cages on your bike, one is for the left hand and the other is for the right hand. They're pretty light; enough light for a non-racer like me. Of course, side-mount carbon frames are lighter, but I find it a little amusing as other riders have to look down their frames to figure out where their tiny carbon frame is, and I can just stick my bottles in the back with confidence. The insanely easy access means I'm actually drinking water more often (which is good, in case you're wondering). The height can be adjusted (by screws, not on the fly) which is more useful than I thought. would. I started with both cages in the lowest position to accommodate larger bottles, but the side exit allowed me to set both to the highest settings and still toss out 24-ounce bottles with ease. The higher the cages are set, the less you have to bend down to get the bottles. The only downside I've noticed is when I race with empty cages. The plastic is quite flexible so when riding, especially on rough roads, the tips rattled against each other. I don't mind. My wife has indicated less subtly that she would like these cages on her bike, so I'm back at Revain and ordering two more.
