Ideal for girls bike frames.

I used them on two girls bikes where the frame shape didn't allow loading a water bottle from the top. This side loading cage allows you to use a full size bottle.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Some minor things

Lost Water Bottles

I lost 2 water bottles driving down the street with this cage. I race my bike, don't jump curbs, avoid potholes and bumpy roads whenever I can, and it still happened twice! When dropped you don't hear it because either the noise of the chain or the movement prevented me from hearing it. You want to drink, you have to drink and you don't have it.

Pros
  • Very Impressive
Cons
  • Doubtful

Ideal for small rooms

Works very well on both of our mountain bikes that have very little room to move a water bottle in and out of the bottle cage. There should be some space above the water bottle, but not so much that the bottle can be pulled out at an angle. We have found that the cage works fairly well with polar water bottles like: =1505539685&sr=8-6&keywords=polar+bottle

  • Weight
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Suitable for road cycling or smooth riding, but not for mountain bikers.

I bought two of these for my mountain bike. I liked the fact that they are reversible and very light. The problem is that the two are flexible and won't securely hold a water bottle on rough terrain. I've lost my water bottle a couple of times so now I'm looking down at the rough sections to see if I need to go back. I use insulated 21 oz CamelBak Podium bottles as the large/tall 25 oz Podium bottles are too heavy and very easy to fall out.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Disappear

Decent product - noisy, no bottle

I needed a water bottle holder and this suited my needs. I ride a Cannondale RZ 120 One and in the space between the top tube (with a slight kink), shock and down tube. Also, my brake and shifter cables run up the top of my down tube. Luckily, the cage sits on a mount, and that mount lifts the cage off the downtube and allows for decent cable clearance. My only minor complaint is that the cage can be a bit noisy when there is no bottle in it. The two laterally separated parts are very close…

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Arrived broken - smart design - plastic/resin bottle holder Weight penalty

Sent in a large envelope which did not protect the bottle holder and was broken at the bottom when opened. The design is clever. This is a two piece design, a fixed mount and the actual cage can be flipped over allowing the bottle to be accessed with either the right or left hand. I have a carbon cage for a water bottle that looks like a spring and has a curve compared to a carbon cage or other solid plastic/resin cage I have. He's heavy, only a few ounces, but heavy for a plastic/resin cage…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Not durable for MTB

Bought one of these and took it to the bike shop to fit my new bike. During installation, the bike mechanic broke the plastic where the screws hold the water bottle cage. I suggested that maybe he was using too much torque or was in a hurry. I ordered a replacement from Amazon (fantastic returns system - thanks Amazon) and when installing it myself I tightened it slightly until it was snug and then with a little 1/8 turn to lock it I hear: pop!: broken in exactly the same place as before! I…

Pros
  • Durable construction
Cons
  • So far so good

Large bottle holder

Bought a thermos HS4080 24 oz. Water bottle, but the 3" diameter didn't fit my wire cage or any of the holders I tried at the bike shop. I chose the 170001 Zefal side-mount cage since one reviewer said its 24-ounce (also 3-inch diameter) bottle would fit Polar. Today I tried Zefal for the first time and it's fantastic. The thermos didn't move at all and was easy to put in and take out of the Zefal. The water thermos is large and heavy compared to a plastic bottle, but didn't move at all. The…

Best bottle cage I've ever used

I have a fairly compact bike frame so bigger bottles don't fit in or are hard to reach while riding. After installing these Zefal Side Mount Cages, I can easily carry bottles with me. Since they can be set for either right or left exit, I set them both up for right access. Most of the other side mounts I'm interested in are solid blocks. So if you have two cages on your bike, one is for the left hand and the other is for the right hand. They're pretty light; enough light for a non-racer like…
