Review on Grandstream GS-GXP2170 VoIP Phone and Device by Ryan Person

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Solid phone, great UI, quality feel. Added moderate lag.

I have tested all the IP phones I know from different manufacturers. Cisco has great tech, good voice quality, low latency, but they don't have BLF keys (or very few). Fanvil has great BLF keys to use key sides that work great but the phone has quality issues and clipping. Yealink has some decent phones, but their flagships like the T48g have a lot of audio latency. Note that this is not related to network latency; Every phone takes time to process packets, and some do it MUCH faster. than others (my tests showed a gap in the processing speed of voice packets from different phones and manufacturers of about 200ms). This Grandstream gives the impression of a quality product, the screen is bright and glossy, the BLF button faces fit perfectly. Sometimes the screen doesn't move as fast as my hands when I'm moving really fast, but that doesn't matter since the phone processes all keystrokes faster than what's shown on the screen, meaning I'm not limited in speed . Sometimes I can move despite a 100ms lag on the screen. This phone adds about 60-80ms of extra latency compared to my "fastest" phones, which I believe is zero. I do NOT want that extra delay which can add up if you increase the latency from your SIP provider/internet to 250ms, however the voice quality is excellent and I know this is the likely cause of the delay. Much more, and it would be beyond what I would accept; much less and it would be difficult for me to measure it (I can measure up to about 30ms). great phone, to measure it (I can measure up to about 30ms). great phone, to measure it (I can measure up to about 30ms). great phone,
