It can be less than what you replace/add, that's fine.
I have an AMD A6, doubled the RAM with this thing. It doesn't look exactly the same, much smaller than the original, but I know it's okay to upgrade old tech. I checked my system's idle RAM usage and saw an almost full 4GB increase in usable memory. Works as advertised, no installation issues. Plugged in, booted up, didn't have to do anything else, smooth process, good game.
