Review on ๐Ÿšฒ BELL Sixer MIPS Mountain Bike Helmet for Adults by Dustin Woodrow

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good but could be better, marked Ladies

The helmet itself seems great so far. I've been using it for almost a month and have been riding 2-3 times a week weather permitting here in the Houston area. The belt tension knob works great with one hand, even when wearing gloves. The lining pads are attached with Velcro and can be removed for washing. I had a long ride and they got wet and I want to try and wash them every few rides so they don't get too dirty. I simply rinsed them in warm water, let them dry and attached them to the helmet. My other helmet is one of the bells which is just round and doesn't have a visor. I don't have any others to compare this feature to, but the sight on this one works well enough for me. I was very excited about the camera mount and didn't realize it came with it. I think I read in another review that it was a separate purchase. Well, I attach my camera to him and a light tap is all it takes to knock him off his helmet. It just wouldn't work for me or the place I ride as there are a lot of branches that I often have to block with my helmet to keep them from hitting my face. My only other complaint about the helmet is that at the very front where the small "sweat collection" pad attaches to the front center of the helmet, the side of the velcro that should be glued to the helmet is along with the small one has solved pad. In a pinch I glue it with super glue or something but for now I managed to glue it but I haven't tried to separate them again but it will probably come loose again. My only other complaint is that the helmet was labeled as female, but honestly I don't care, I love the color scheme. It fits well, I'm a size 7 or a few years ago when I wore cowboy hats and baseball caps. I only have a slight adjustment. So if you have a size 7 head but a lot of hair, you can go up one size. I have short hair. Also consider wearing a balaclava. It's getting hot in here, and I'll test this cooling mechanism as soon as it gets warmer. So far the ventilation seems to be good. I'll try to update the review if anything changes but for now I think it's a really good helmet that comes with MIPS. You might have better luck with the camera mount, but mine pops out too easily to lose the camera. I either tie it to my helmet or just wear a chest strap to film my rides. Which would probably be better if the branches didn't hit the camera.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Easy serviceability
