I read all sorts of reviews about these bags and decided to buy a pair for our cars. I'm writing over the Christmas holidays and we used two of these from Revain for our articulated lorry trip. To answer the question, are they rainproof, definitely yes. I think the people who complained about the thing getting wet didn't zip it up. Keep straps securely in place. Yes absolutely, very reliable (I'm the kind of person that needs something to work well or I get something that works). it is a keeper. But there are other things you might want to know. People who say it looks like trampoline stuff are probably half right. It's a cross between an outdoor pool vinyl sheet and a gym bag. I have bags like that and these bags are not that thick and strong. They are lighter but still protect against rain and dirt from the road. The zippers are ok but could be bigger. They are medium sized and you have to fiddle with them as they go around the corners of the bag, deal with them hanging on the material etc. This wouldn't happen if the bag had large expedition zips. For a bag that sells for around $50 I would give $100 to have a thicker and more durable bag with very heavy duty no compromise zippers. But if you want something that works, don't mind fiddling with it a bit to open and close it, that's the deal. If you're not detail oriented you might end up getting things wet as you need to make sure the velcro flap is snug against the zipper. Otherwise, it's likely to leak and water will remain in the bag (because it's waterproof and goes with your luggage). The bag is not as big as some of the photos and description suggest. We have two cargo carriers and there's probably a good 1-1.5 foot of floor space that this bag doesn't cover. (Not so hot what's up). It fits a variety of things from gym bags to backpacks and whatever you can stuff inside. Will I take her again Yes. Do I think they will be goalkeepers for a long time? Maybe. If they were thicker like the NorthFace Expedition holdalls etc I could expect them to last for years. They can get damaged, ripped or I throw them out out of frustration because of undersized zips hanging etc. The nice thing is that they are waterproof and if you use them in any way (open trailer, cargo luggage rack etc...) should keep your stuff dry. Rola does good. They make a larger bag than the one I would have bought but it was out of stock. Hope that helps.
