Revainrating 5 out of 5

Regardless of the list, this works great with my samsung tab s4!

I needed something that would allow me to transfer photos from an SD card to an external hard drive from my Samsung Tab S4. I tried 4 other devices that ended up at Revain. While I can't check in real numbers based on speed timings, I'm not getting the maximum I 'should' get when transferring data from UHS-i. Map to a Sata3 SSD BUT it's doable and now that I don't have to carry my laptop around if I want to be very portable I'll give up speed a bit. Connecting my tablet via HDMI and VGA (not both at the same time) helped, and I haven't had a real-life situation that required the use of a network card. It's very portable, even with the number of ports it offers, and I don't even need to plug it into a power source when connected to my tablet with an SD reader and hard drive attached. The only thing I like is that they offer a USBc connection for data transfer, too bad it only goes at Gen1 speeds :( The biggest issue I have is that while it's convenient, a USB -C connector, should this cable ever break, it will render the entire device unusable. Not only that, you are limited to a 4" distance between your device and it. More control over your workspace. Startech has a very similar device, instead of USBc@Gen1 data they state they have a third USB 3.1 Gen1 port BUT they indicate that both SD and MicroSD slots can be used at the same time [B07FBDPBHQ] If you me is better to have a dedicated USBc port option BUT if you need to work between SD cards then you might need to look elsewhere I really don't know why they pointed out that it wasn't compatible with all tablets and smartphones must have something to do with my tab s4 including charging. I haven't tried connecting multiple USB devices.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
