I bought my Marin from the dealer in 2010 with the equipment pre-installed. I've been driving every day for two years. I love pens! The bike was left in the storage shed during my sea voyage and only ridden once a year on visits to the US. Almost six years later, the rubber had turned to a sticky mass and smelled of gasoline. Slime got on my gloves and fingers. The odor is difficult to remove from hands. I think they have an expiration date. The seat and tires did not rot in storage. If anyone knows how to prevent the gum from turning into a goo please let me know. I plan to keep the bike for about eight more years.
