This thermometer not only comes with batteries but is also very easy to use. After downloading and setting up the app, I tested it to make sure it actually worked. The first thing I tried on was a very thick piece of tri-type. We prefer well-made dishes, but sometimes they can get too burnt. I adjusted the application so that it came out fine. It even warned me when to turn the meat so it didn't burn. I was able to get consistent temperature readings just by opening the app. Even when I was outside, the meter showed me the temperature. The app even notified me when things were about to be completed. As soon as it was ready, I immediately took it off the grill. I never had to cut a tritype to see if it was bloody or not. After letting it rest, I sliced it up and it was cooked to perfection. The temperature readings on this thermometer are very accurate and I love that I can set up notifications right from my phone. You have the option of either putting this gauge in a vertical position or using a very strong magnet that I can attach to my grill. The needles that penetrate the flesh are very thick and easily slide into any flesh. The cables themselves have a metal coating and protect the cable inside from heat. Really easy to use and easy to clean.
