Good pump but gauge kit needs some work

Pump works no problems. Other reviewers mentioned that the pump only came with a one-time oil change and that you had to do an oil flush/change before first use. I don't think that's correct. The instructions don't mention that you should change the oil before first use, they only mention how to change it and that it's part of regular maintenance. I would definitely change the oil before the next use, but not the first time. The gauge set that came with the pump, if that's the version you bought, seems to be of good quality. Very heavy and comes with many nozzles and accessories for different types of refrigerants. I installed a mini split heat pump (410a) with the pump to create a vacuum in the lines. The problem I had on the first try was that I only went down to -16 inches of mercury. I checked all my connections, re-tightened everything by hand as the connections appear to be made for hand tightening only, but still only got to -16. I then put some Nylog on everything from the service valve on the condenser to the valve on the vacuum pump, but it didn't make much of a difference. I ended up getting tired of playing with him, so I picked up the phone. wrench and retighten all connections. Here, too, he slightly damaged the plugs on the outside, as they were apparently only hand-tight. Now I'm at -26. Although downstairs I couldn't. It lasted for an hour at -26 so all I could do was live. The heat pump works perfectly. So the problem with this pump is the connections to the gauge, not the pump itself. The service hoses included in the kit have hard plastic flared washers on the inside. In my opinion they don't create a sufficient seal. Next time I pull a vacuum I'll use rubber washers instead, if they're thin enough to depress the pin in the service mini split valve deep enough. I think this will create a seal strong enough to work in -29. So, a good pump, but some tools may be required if you want to get a really good vacuum with it.
