Review on πŸ”Œ ASUS RT-AC66W: High-Performance Dual-Band AC1750 Gigabit Router for Seamless Wireless Connectivity by Sam Thorpe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Why Asus RT-AC66W and not Apple's Airport Extreme.

I have a Mac setup in my office. And after 23 months without a single problem, my Airport Extreme router just stopped working and I had problems with my iMac, my Retina Mackbook Pro and one of my iPhones, I remembered that I had a working Asus router at home since July . 2011. Talk about reliability and long-term use. Because of this and my Mac hardware issues, I chose the Asus AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router, RT-AC66W W stands for white, so the color of my Mac hardware matches my white Asus router. It set up and ran without any problems and at work it handles a load of up to 40 multi-connections at the same time, be they desktops, laptops, mobiles and tablets, all with no problems. Aside from the visual aspect, behind me I have a white monster with three antennas and all these blue LEDs that are constantly blinking, nine of them. In terms of signal strength, it surpasses the airport. And in terms of usage, while the Mac Airport just plugs in and works, on the Asus you can actually program, see, control and decide a lot of things that might be intimidating at first, but end up being more powerful and prettier. , more range, more connections. I think if Apple ever fixed the hardware issues I would be tempted to buy the Airport Router again. But right now I'm even considering going back to Windows and installing Asus Desktop at work.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Not everything is as good as it says it is
