If you only have one key, this might not be the best option.

If you have a 2007 Ford Expedition and only have one key, be careful. I went to a locksmith to clone the original key I had and none of them would clone. I have been told that these different brand RF dongles cannot be encoded by another brand encoder. I had to pay him $55 for a feature and I know him and saw him try so he wasn't trying to rip me off. If you have both original keys and cut that key on Ace hardware or elsewhere, you can encode them on your car as advertised, but if you only have one for this year's model and others, both OBD coded original keys are required. It is better to go to a dealer or buy a key from a locksmith shop, where the key will match the brand of the encoder. I have been a fleet controller for many years and these code keys prevent many vehicles from being stolen but hurt if you lose them.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
