I have twins, 9 years old (1 boy and 1 girl) who are both involved in exploring and other extracurricular activities. I used to buy several pairs of these for my daughter's troupe and I liked them so much that I bought 20 pairs for my son's scout backpack. Well, I'm not supposed to say "I" bought them because he got a gift certificate that he won for being the No. Popcorn Vendor. So I told him that maybe there was something he could do about his stash. He decided to get them all binoculars because they were going on a trip through the desert hoping to see wild animals and so on. We ended up being lucky enough to see several bighorn sheep, a slew of birds and coyotes, and thanks to these binoculars, all the kids got a close-up of it. I tried using my phone to show the view through one of the binoculars, but the photo doesn't do ANYONE justice. This is a really high quality optic in terms of value for money. They simply cannot be defeated. Advantages: 1. The price is unbeatable2. They are super compact. The bag fits snugly and is easy to get in and out of, and it also has a loop on the back so it can be easily attached to a backpack (which we did)4. The clarity is 100 times better than big5.5. 10 times brighter than my old kit! It almost seems more important than clarity. In the twilight my old sets are useless but these are still going strong. They have proven their longevity. They are easy for children to focus on too. Other Notes: They have a nice textured handle. Including cleaning cloth. Lens caps for the eyepiece side are included. For light camping/exploring, you can't beat this pair. They are amazing! Negative Notes: NO I can't say anything bad about them. I will say make sure the straps are attached properly when using them. I had a group of kids (some of them pictured) assemble it on their own and one kid unzipped and fell to the ground, but there was no damage so even after falling on hard ground it's not a problem.
