When I started buying HDMI switches for use in my mini home theater setup, they would continually fail within about six months of turning them on. They would usually fail in how the power is delivered to the unit, from what I inspected. I've had this one plugged in with all ports filled and running every day for about a year and a half with no issues to report. The automatic switching upon detection of an awake device is a little disconcerting at times, and it makes some noise in a quiet room, but it's negligible if you're doing anything other than sitting in silence, which I would imagine is rare if you're using it for its intended purpose. This is a great product that finally takes the suggestions I've given to other HDMI switch manufacturers and has them by default. Buy this product if looking for an HDMI switch.
