Looks good but DO NOT use for performance!

I left a review about a year ago shortly after purchase talking about picture quality and value. The cost of this monitor is pretty good for 1080p, high refresh rate, clarity, brightness and fairly accurate color reproduction. Mediocre product but great value for what it does. HOWEVER after living with 2x of these monitors for 1 year. I understand the ONE major downside that COULD make me consider a different monitor just for this minor issue. Well, in my case, a HUGE problem. Input switching is hidden beneath the menu selection levels, and the switching selection itself takes a long time to set up and select a new input. DO NOT BUY THIS MONITOR IF YOU NEED TO SWITCH REGULARLY. If you only have one system hooked up and rarely or never switch inputs, this is a fantastic buy! But if you're like me and have 2 work laptops that you regularly turn on and off via a laptop dock that has a dual HDMI connection attached. while I also regularly switch to dual DP output from my desktop PC at home. Every time I have to click 3-4 levels of menu choices and 8-10 clicks for EACH monitor, every time I change the system I'm connected to. A KVM switch will solve this problem for many people (spend more money), but unfortunately I have to use the HDMI output for my laptop. So KVM has to be a somewhat specialized, very expensive kit option. A dedicated input toggle key has been a monitor staple for literally decades and mostly common sense, but for some reason Asus omits this feature in lieu of dedicated keys for "supergamer" functions like the on-screen crosshair/FPS counter and the selection of the color scheme . . I'm so sick of the aesthetic marketing crap for gamers, but sometimes you have to make a compromise between cost and functionality. In this case, it was the cheapest 27-inch curved monitor with 1080p and a high refresh rate that would not reach lower brands. But DO NOT BUY for multiple system performance requirements.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • Honestly, just look elsewhere. Not worth the price at all.
