It is almost impossible to remove the tape once it is properly applied. (Which is great.) After a mountain bike accident that broke my old phone, I wanted to fit this mount to a "newer one". It took a lot of effort and patience to remove it from the phone cover. I read reviews where users complained about the sticking. Having worked with tapes and adhesives throughout my career, I've learned that preparation is everything. Follow a few simple steps and this block will never come off accidentally. Make sure the surface is smooth and clean. I originally applied it to an old textured phone case, so I sanded it smooth where I wanted to install the mount. This is only necessary if what you're mounting to is really textured, with grooves etc that don't make adequate contact with the surface. I washed it with soap and water and then wiped it with an alcohol wipe to make sure it was 100% clean and dry. - Put on the holder and press firmly to remove bubbles. - Wait 24 hours before using it. Most people skip this step. Adhesives (and tapes) need some time to set and cure before you put stress on them. All of this may seem like overkill, but even when my phone broke and detached from another mount, it wasn't damaged, and it wasn't even relaxed. This worked exactly as expected.
