EDIT: Almost a year now and ordering a new one for a new phone case. It has held up amazingly well and is still holding up with no sign of failure. Don't try to stick the tape on rubber or silicone and you'll be fine. I ordered a rubber coated housing, made sure it was sanded and clean, then attached the PTO adapter.
