Throw the outdated drain system in the bin

I've decided to upgrade some leaky faucets in my 10 year old house. I wanted to try a higher quality light, so I chose Kohler for its perceived superior quality. Everything went well until the locking mechanism was installed. Why Kohler is still using an outdated system and not a pop-up drain is beyond me. Because it is a handle, the 2 hoses of the line and the drain lever must pass very close to each other, so it will be tight, so the part that attaches the lever to the multi-hole bracket will be tight and cause interference. The stick with the ball on it seemed wrong, as if the metal hanging over the ball was scratching the drainpipe. Then he had a "Type B" installation, meaning the plug just rests on the lever in the drain and not the hole. And then when I tightened the nut on the ball joint it became very difficult to pull it up and down and it leaked from the top. I contacted Kohler support via live chat and was told they would ship the replacement drain assembly in 7-14 business days. Not trusting the systems engineers and not wanting to spend 3 weeks with a sink I went to Menards and bought a stand alone push button flush system. At least the plug lever on the faucet itself is on the back and kind of hidden, so I pulled it out and threw it in a drawer. The bottom line is if you buy this, just buy a matching drain knob assembly and toss the Kohlers right in the bin. I'll try to get them to stop shipping the replacement drain assembly so I don't have to throw 2 of them away. The faucet looks high quality, all tests disappointed. There are 2 more mixers to replace now I will look for other brands.
