I have a large knife block but when it filled up (knife junkie) I needed somewhere else to store my knives. This serves the purpose and does it well. It went up easily and really holds them. It's not so tight I can't grab the knife I want but they don't slide around. I'm actually liking it better than my block now because I can see the knife I'm grabbing and no guessing is required. When I use my block, I always put the knives back where they came from but when other people are in my kitchen, they don't do the same -- this is my new favorite knife holder.
