Review on Howard Miller 645 527 Weather Maritime by David Citizen

Revainrating 1 out of 5

A $75 watch that lasts about a year and is beyond repair. You don't want to buy this product.

Tide Mate worked fine for about a year then movement stopped. I have changed many movements in my life. The secret is to find the exact movement. So I searched the Howard Miller website for a replacement movement, they have a list of watches and their respective movements. They also have plenty of gears available for around $10. Since this is a $75 device, $10 would be a worthwhile investment. Since I couldn't find Tide Mate in the list, I looked for a support email or a contact email or phone number. Guess no email, no phone number. I decided to take the watch apart to see if the movement had a part number. Disassembling a watch usually takes about 10 minutes. You have to remove the front plastic or glass, then remove the hands, remove the nut if present, this did not have a nut to hold the movement in place, rather they were glued to the movement to the case. I had to brake and disassemble the movement then cut out the remaining parts, it took about an hour and there was no part number on the movement. Conclusion: I do not recommend this product and will never buy a Howard Miller product as they do not have customer service. If the mechanism was interchangeable I would give it 4 stars.
