I have never received a DOA pump from this company. This is a quality pump. Not all pumps are created equal. Copper collectors are a bad idea as copper is a catalyst that causes gas to stick together and destroy the fuel system. Petrochemical chemists have known this for years. Due to the large number of DOA pumps, always test beforehand. I use a 9 volt battery, connect it to the appropriate terminals and test it before installing it in the pump body. I learned this the hard way. Installed a DOA pump in the case, then installed it and it didn't work. So check the motors first before installing them in the case. Always vacuum or pump the tank empty. I like to use ethanol-free petrol for new dispensers. Once I have the pump installed, I fill the tank with 5 gallons of non-ethanol liquid and start the pump. The absence of ethanol reduces the risk of oxidation failure. Be very careful with gasoline, and being able to do it outdoors with a hose and a fire extinguisher handy gives you an extra margin of safety. Gasoline and gasoline vapors do not conduct electricity.
