They are good but need improvement

Honest feedback from a buyer. So I bought these thinking they would be a great addition to my master plan. They were everything I expected but not everything I needed. Remember, they work great in an ideal environment. However, I'm far from a perfect setup, but I have a good idea of what they're capable of. Here is my general experience with these springs. The feathers say they can handle 5ft antennas. I have a hard time finding that true. Yes they work but after about 3,000 miles the springs started to wear out. Not the end of the world, just turn around and call it good. This works, but you'll find that you're constantly rotating to counteract the tilt of the antenna. This leads to the second problem. You can't tighten them, which is good. The ends of the caps are not welded to the spring. It's not the end of the world, you can still tighten it and then it's nice and tight. Just take them off, you will need an extra pair of hands and a large pair of pliers to hold the end of the 1/8 inch thick cap. For the next part I'm not sure if the antenna fits or my settings. I know my antennas are a little closer than they should be. However, with a feather and a 5 foot antenna, it's not impossible to set up and get the right SWR. I just got the opposite: 1:1 on channel 1 and 1.8 on channel 40. If you run the correct channel 19 it's about 1.4. With that detail in mind, these readings were taken after I removed the springs. With them I read in the range of 2.5. Large or small antennas, this will burn out the radio unit while transmitting. Now I'm sure they would work with smaller antennas, but I still have a feeling the product leaning upwind will eat those feathers. these feathers. I give one star for the looks. I'm giving a second star based on my experience and use of the product.
