Review on πŸ”₯ Enhanced Ignition System by Standard Motor Products US279L by Aquarium Lanter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is an eight pin key, not ten. PATS-II does not recognize the chip in supplied keys.

I actually bought this exact part number from another store but the remote control keys didn't work with my 1999 Cougar. The keys supplied with this lock cylinder are 8-pin keys, not original 10-pin keys. I was able to adapt this ignition lock cylinder to my doors. The first six positions on the key, starting from the base, are for doors. The last seven for the ignition. This means that the first three pins (or plates) of the ignition lock cylinder are aligned with the last three door lock cylinders. I asked the locksmith to cut out the desired blank transponder key according to the pin code and connect my laptop to program the second key. Although I had the key that came with this lock cylinder cut by a locksmith to work with my new pins, the PATS-II system would not accept the chip. But I was able to program another transponder key with my two working keys. Anyhow, in my experience this is the wrong type of key for my Cougar and the PATS-II system would not accept the transponder.
