Review on Samsung 27-inch LS27R750UENXZA 144Hz Monitor by Nathan Porter

Not suitable for graphic designers

I just want to preface and say that I really wanted to love this monitor. It's big, it looks great, the minimal design is great, and I love its viewing angles and how it descends to table level. However, as a graphic designer, I feel that the monitor leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe I'm a little spoiled working on an iMac with a Retina 5K display. I just didn't compare. But I really thought that for $400 it would be a little better. My 27 inch BENQ monitor that I use for gaming is way better than this one and it was a $250 monitor. I think this is a fantastic monitor for what it is. Just don't think it's worth it for the price. However, it's expensive because it's useless. If you have a particular minimalist desk style you might want this monitor, but if you're a professional creative I wouldn't mind. The color range and the clarity of the monitor did not appeal to me. It would actually start hurting my eyes from straining to look over my work. By the way, the screen is matte. Very matte. This gives it almost the appearance of a layer of frost. I'm not sure what it's called, but it just didn't look crystal clear. And yes, I calibrated it and played around with the settings a bit. To get true BLACK you need to increase the contrast and then everything else looks bad. Not being a designer, photographer, or videographer, my concerns might not matter, and that would be really cool. Monitor. It was just my five cents as a designer.

Pros
  • The palm rest can be easily raised and lowered, even to sit flush with a wall or on a table, to adjust your viewing height.
Cons
  • The monitor flickers when playing video games.
