These sensors don't really offer the sensitivity needed for most projects. I've found that most noise has to be very loud to cause a measurable change in voltage that can be measured. I used this sensor to detect a toilet flush (for a gag device that yelled at my kids for not flushing the toilet) - I put it on the toilet cistern and it could hear the flushing noise which is damn loud , not reliably detect. .
