I have used several single board computers but I prefer the Alpha. Expensive? You bet they're ready to go right out of the box. The software runs without crashing or having to go to the help forum every five minutes to get something working. It uses 12V direct from the board making it ideal for mobile or emergency use. Both my monitor and board run on 12v so the first time it went out and it kept working and I was sold. there is an answer when it is heard. Never has a Pi run more than a month or two without damaging the SD or something. Alpha has been in trouble-free, 24/7 operation for nearly two years. As for the clock issue, just install some timing software (Meinburg) or like me run a GPS like Ublox. Problem solved. And quiet.
