Review on Norse Tradesman Viking Knife With Boar'S Head Hilt & Leather Sheath - 5.5" Carbon Steel Blade by Carlito Tardy

A Critical Review: craftsmanship was disappointing

In-depth honest review: Super fast shipping my knife arrived a day early! It was packaged with care, the knife had a rubber tip guard and was in a nice drawstring bag, and the blade was coated with a liberal amount of oil. Let me start by stating I do realize every knife is unique. The knife was really dirty, as motor oil was used to quench the knife during tempering. It did have bluing on the the blade and handle (hard black blemishes that will eventually flake off causing pitting) The knife was pretty sharp but needed some honing. There were imperfections with the edges angles. There are large file and grinder marks all over this blade. Also numerous raised unfinished edges. Which make it look unfinished, lacking craftsmanship. The leather wrap on the handle was of low quality leather and was badly glued to the blade. The leather used for the sheath was also of low quality and does not look like the one in the display picture. The stitching was loose and frayed. This is a really cool knife overall and at a glance, but in my opinion I’m not happy with the price I paid for this knife. I was expecting a little better quality and craftsmanship. It does look handmade (partially) but it’s obvious it was made with power tools and rushed with little, to no care put into the production of this knife. I do think it would be a great gift for those interested in Norse mythology. UPDATE: Customer service was quick to respond to my issue, and offered a replacement knife. Will update when I receive it.
