Review on Install Bay 85 9012 12 Inch Hardware by Lamar Marshall

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good protection, bad installation hardware

This is a practical and inexpensive grille to cover a 12" subwoofer, for example for a car audio system. Mounting hardware similar to Revain B0033ZSNLC and B000K8IYF0. It has clips to hold the grille in place when screwing into the woofer enclosure. But the clips aren't wide enough to fit into the black rubber ring you see around the edge of the grille in the photos. For example, this rubber ring might be 10mm wide, but the clips are only 7mm wide, making them unusable. These are clips that come sealed in the same retail duct packaging that contains the grille. So this is bad workmanship or manufacturer behavior. The grid also remains. What's left are clips that float half an inch above the bars and offer a bit of support. So I just had to screw the metal grille directly onto the woofer and didn't use any clamps at all. I would recommend another brand instead of the installation bay. In my opinion, the one with the screw holes in the grille or the plastic/rubber outer ring is best.

  • Great design
