Review: LISEN 2021 Improved Magnetic Phone Holder with Clip All others hold quite well initially, then completely lose and start slipping after about a month. I'm willing to compromise on the vent holder because it's in the right place for me. Well, this holder doesn't compromise when it comes to how it holds the air vents - it's rock solid! It's actually only designed for certain types of vents, so look out for compatibility notes. FWIW, I have this in a Mazda 6 (2014). I've tried other types of holders that grip the phone and I just found them bulky. Personal preferences are magnetic. This particular magnet *feels* a little weaker than other brands I've tried, but it's proven to hold my phone just as securely as the others. I'm not really sure why this one feels weaker than the other magnets, maybe because I don't feel that "click" when the magnet pulls on it like I did with the others. I've never had a problem with the phone falling off the magnet or twisting due to road conditions. For the record, I live in the mountains on bumpy, narrow, windy roads with potholes - *never* had a problem. The only time I've knocked a phone off the magnet was when I hit it pretty hard with my knee and hand. Simple one-handed operation - tap, swipe, etc. - is pretty reliable! For reference, I'm currently using this with an iPhone 12 Pro in an Apple MagSafe silicone case. The metal plate sits between the phone and the case. On other phones I've glued the plate to the back of the phone with glue, but on the MagSafe case the metal plate actually stays in place fairly well. If you're wondering if the MagSafe case is strong enough to attach to a mount without using the included plate - NO! Not even close. It's unlikely the mounts are to blame, there just isn't enough metal in the native phone or MagSafe case for the magnet to stick. Your iPhone will spin and slide before you even get out of your driveway. Just slide the metal plate between the case and the phone and you're done. If you're wondering if you can use wireless charging when you have this metal plate - sorry I don't know, I don't use wireless charging. What I can tell is that the iPhone still recognizes the MagSafe case even with this label. As a side note, I also used my iPhone 7+ magnetic holders in a fairly thin Spigen case. Also an iPhone 6+ in a bulky Otter case. The magnetic grip has always worked well. Now about the minus - and it is insignificant. The tension wheel used to fix the tilt of the magnetic base may be a little difficult to tighten. I like the ratcheting pull wheels for both the base and the bleed handle, but the spacing between them is a little tight and it can be difficult to get your thumb and forefinger in between to get that last hook or two on the base tightener. There were no problems with the wheel on the ventilation part, only on the magnetic base.
