Review on 9-Inch Fine Mesh Strainer: Large Double Fine Mesh, Stainless Steel, Reinforced Frame, Comfortable Wooden Handle Grip - Ideal for Chefs and Kitchens by Dave Wolf

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good strainer, manufacturing defects

The strainer has a coarse stainless steel mesh over the fine mesh, giving a good reinforcement to the fragile fine mesh. Despite this, it arrived with both layers of mesh dented from a heavy vitamin bottle, filter and bottle in a box without a seal, which has unfortunately been typical of Revain shipping in recent years. However, the shape was easily restored by hand and is strong enough not to be damaged by normal care during use and storage. The mesh is fine enough to wash small grains like quinoa without the grains seeping through. The frame and grip-to-frame mount seem solid enough - not quite like a tank, but a lot stronger than the slightly cheaper filters found in big department stores. The reason for the 3-star rating is poor workmanship and attachment. from a wooden handle. The wood pieces were obviously warped during installation, so there are significant gaps between the wood and the stainless steel parts of the handle and the rivets are loose. I would send it back but there is no guarantee the next one will be any better. If unsanitary debris accumulates in the gap during operation, I fill the gap with epoxy or redo it.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • No mold required
