Great idea, questionable quality

I like the concept and understand the distinct advantage of a high gain directional antenna. This is the only option I found that automatically rotates based on the network you choose. The included router was easy to set up and I liked the basic features. I bought this to install on my fifth wheel trailer while trying to improve weak camping Wi-Fi signals and needed a device that once connected would work with web authentication. Problems: 1. Unit: I checked the unit before installing it and everything went fine. The rotation of the antenna was quite shaky, but worked without any problems. Installation started. After laying the antenna cable I tried to connect the antenna on the roof. The cable did not fit into the antenna connector; I saw a piece of copper coming out of the connection when I unplugged the cable to test. It was a pin on the connector on the antenna side. This antenna had to be returned. 2nd block: tested before installation. There were no problems connecting cables, setup went through. This time the antenna rotated smoothly, but the phone lost contact with the antenna while searching for networks. The phone could not be reconnected to the antenna. After turning off the antenna I was able to reconnect, but only for 10 seconds while it searched for networks. Then he switched off. I checked the ends of the cable and everything looked fine. Reconnected and turned off multiple times. Deleted the app and even tested it on another phone. Same problem. Obviously a problem with the antenna/connection. I've been in the electronics industry (maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, etc.) for 27 years. The cable connection on the antenna side didn't impress me much. The required arch under the antenna to route the cable through the provided cutout is poorly designed and prone to failure. Unfortunately, after two attempts I was forced to find an alternative solution.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
