I recommend four things: 1) Before pouring a drop of gasoline, familiarize yourself with the locking mechanism, install the nozzle and adapter, understand how they work. This is much easier when the can is empty than when it is full. 2) If you plan on carrying it around a lot or storing it in your car, consider using zip ties or other means of securing the adapter and attachment to the can so they don't separate. There is a mount for the nozzle, but the zip ties keep it from falling and also allow you to secure the adapter. 3) The funnel is a good companion for this.
