Review on Dell U2518D LED Lit Monitor - Enhanced Compatibility for 2560X1440P by Sam Stone

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The monitor should have very accurate RGB color reproduction, which is great for my photography.

After some research I settled on this Dell monitor model U2518D. The monitor should have very accurate RGB color reproduction, which is great for my photos. Also, the higher resolution of 1440p is a really nice step up from 1080, especially at this size. I received the monitor in a Dell box which appears to have been previously opened as the box was sealed with tape. The packing tape has already torn in some places. This worried me a lot as the product was listed as new on Revain. However, upon opening the box, the monitor and all accessories including the stand, mDP cable, power cord, and USB cable were included. The monitor even had the original shipping foam and plastic wrap over the display. I'm not sure why the package was already open, but it appears the monitor hasn't been used. That's the only reason I gave up the star. The colors on this monitor are bright and clear. Definitely not oversaturated. The default mode is pretty nimble out of the box. I lowered it to around 50 and it seems a lot more reasonable. Colors are still very accurate and this display has amazing contrast. However, as some other reviewers have noted, there is a noticeable panel glow on a completely black screen. It's really no worse than most other IPS panels. After all, this isn't a gaming monitor and the color accuracy doesn't bother me. In any case, I don't often look at a black screen. I hope this review helps someone.
