May potentially drain battery without modification.

With this product, I installed a 600W off-road LED panel on a protective grille. The wiring is capable of providing higher wattage lighting and the wire wrapping, connections and shrink tubing around the relay harness look professional. However, a major disadvantage of this design is that no pre-wiring has been done. a separate power supply for the switch itself. The power supply to the switch is spliced inside the heat shrink tubing on the relay harness from the main power supply, which must be connected directly to the battery. This causes some problems when used as supplied. First, because the wiring harness is directly connected to the battery and the switch power is connected, your switch will always light up even when the car is off. The second issue is that if this is not set on a daily or part-time driver, a constantly lit switch can eventually cause the battery to completely drain. If you are familiar with the wiring, you can run your own wire to an ignition or other switchable power source and use that wire to power the switch. By connecting the switch power to a hot ignition source, the switch is de-energized when the vehicle is turned off, preventing 100 percent illumination and battery drain when the vehicle is turned off. This switch draws only the minimal amount of power needed to turn on the backlight and activate the relay (your powerful lights will still be powered directly from the battery through the relay). In my setup, I connected the power wire to one of my bright bulbs "T" so that the switch is only "hot" when the high beams are on. This allows my light bar to automatically turn on when I turn on the high beams and automatically turn off the light bar when I turn off the high beams. In my setup, if I don't want my lightbar to be on when my high beams are on, my switch acts as an override. (You MUST turn off the daytime running lights if your vehicle uses high beams instead of position lights for DRLs, otherwise your switch will be active every time the DRLs are on.) Aside from that lack of switch performance, here's what I would generally say. this is a decent product.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
