Review on West Biking Universal Adjustable Reflective by Ryan Lawson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable rack for your money. I recommend as a purchase. A few basic questions.

I am writing this review after installing it. All in all I would recommend this to the point. It feels pretty solid and there aren't any spots where the trunk gets in the way of the bike. A few things that could have been better: a frame and "W" shaped side bars that help with side pockets. Two bars sit on top of each other with no screw to hold them in place, some sort of rubber piece to keep them from banging together, etc. No doubt it will rattle as you ride, especially when you hit a bump. At the moment I have put a piece of rubber between two bars and will find a safer solution.* The pictures show an improved wrench included for assembly. You do not understand it; Instead you get a standard key that doesn't work really well with nuts. The wrench in the picture would be incredibly helpful. What happened is nonsense. I ended up just putting the nuts and bolts in the opposite direction as shown in the photos and instructions so I could use the ratchet. Just installed, you could feel and see it. I assume they will rust and probably not hold very tight. But to be honest I made this purchase because I expected that I would have to. At this price every manufacturer will give you unwanted gear and you should always plan to replace them with high quality stainless steel parts. * Install the rear reflector first. Depending on how you ultimately configure/place it on your bike, the top tray may extend past the back of the main support bar and you may not need to attach a reflector.* Instructions are incomplete. Most of the steps are there, but a few key steps are missing, such as: B. Tightening the bottom screws to secure them. Overall I would still rate it as a buy. Seems solid and well attached to the bike. Let's see how it behaves in use.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Useless features
